HOW DO I BOOK AN INTAKE SESSION?
Presently I am only providing therapy online. There is much research that suggests online therapy can be as effective as in-person. If you are wanting to book a session contact me via email at pnenns@gmail.com or phone or text at 778-678-8578.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
As of January 1, 2023 my fees are $150per hour or $220 for 90 minute EMDR session, no GST required. If you have extended health insurance check to see if your benefits include coverage for counselling by a registered clinical counsellor.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

It would be helpful if you thought about your issue prior to the session and ask yourself some of the following questions:
1. When did my issue or problem start?
2. What things have I already tried to help deal with the issue?
3 .What has been helpful?
4. What has not been helpful?
5. Are there times when the the problem seems to lessen or even go away for a time?
6. What expectations do you have for therapy?
Sometimes a person's situation may be confusing and you may not be able to immediately answer the above. In that case the first session would be about attempting to bring some clarity to what is the most important issue to be addressed.
HOW DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENT?
At this time I accept cheques and e-transfers.

ABOUT ME
Experienced. Certified. Supportive.
I have been a counsellor and psychotherapist for over 35 years in both public mental health clinics and privately. I am a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I see therapy as a joint venture in which a person seeks help from an experienced practitioner to assist them in overcoming some obstacle or problem in their life. An essential ingredient is the ability to have honest conversations in a non-judgemental, trusting and safe relationship with the therapist. In addition to this I have a variety techniques and therapeutic methods to assist in the process of psychological healing. I have regularly practiced mindfulness meditation and yoga for over 40 years.

PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC METHODS AND TOOLS
I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is especially useful in treating trauma. I also have a background in Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.

WHAT IS EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a method for working through the aftereffects of a traumatic event such as a car accident, a physical or sexual assault, a near death experience, etc. It involves the therapist helping the client to identify the negative thoughts, emotions and bodily symptoms associated with the trauma and then clarifying what the client would prefer to believe and experience. Then the client may be guided through a procedure that involves bilateral stimulation, i.e. eye movements or tapping on alternate sides of the body as one remembers an aspect of the trauma. This tends to allow the mind/body to unlock it's natural internal processing ability and begin to release the stress of the trauma.

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS BASED PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy focuses on helping a client develop skills to help manage stress and life challenges using techniques such as meditation, guided relaxation exercises, and cultivating qualities such as equanimity (the ability to retain a balanced mind in the midst of difficult circumstances), compassion for self and others, present centered awareness, and joyful aliveness.

How well did you live?
How well did you love?
How well did you learn to let go?"
